Visiting Artist LectureAngela LorenzWednesday, November 16, 20117:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Please join us for a visiting artist lecture with Angela Lorenz, an American book artist who lives and works in Bologna, Italy. You have likely seen her Soap Stories book shown at left. It is one of the seminal books in contemporary book arts. You also might remember Bologna Sample from the recent book arts show at the Museum of Contemporary Craft here in Portland. This event is free, open to the public, and RSVPs are not necessary.
Angela Lorenz has been creating highly sculptural, mixed-media limited-edition artists’ books in Bologna, Italy since 1989. Her training in drawing, 2-D and printmaking took place at Phillips Academy, Andover, where she made her first artists’ books. She apprenticed to an Italian bookbinder on a year abroad from Brown University where she received a B.A. in fine arts and semiotics. Lorenz’s work may be found in over 100 public collections in North America and Europe and has lectured and exhibited frequently in the US and abroad.
